How the day goes
Here's treatment day, start to finish.
- 01Tune-up
First we fasten down loose shingles, put fresh sealant on flashings and fix popped nails.
- 02Mix
The concentrate gets mixed 5 parts water to 1 part product. A gallon of mix covers about 200 square feet.
- 03Spray
It goes on as a milky white mist and soaks into the shingles.
- 04Dry and cure
Tack free in about 30 minutes, foot traffic in about an hour, full cure in 1 to 2 hours at 70 to 80 degrees.
What makes a job take longer
The one-afternoon figure fits a typical house. A few things stretch it:
- A bigger roof, with more square footage to cover
- A steep pitch or a second story, which slows safe work
- More tune-up items, like a lot of nail pops or loose shingles
- A cool or damp day, which slows drying
The instant roof estimate uses satellite data to size up your roof and show a price range. It's also a quick way to see how big the job is.
Treatment day vs. replacement
The full side-by-side is on rejuvenation vs. replacement.
| Item | Rejuvenation | Replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Time on site | About one afternoon for a typical house | Usually a day or more |
| Noise | A sprayer and some hand tools | Tear-off, hammers and nail guns |
| Dumpster in the driveway | No | Usually |
Before anything gets booked, the owner does a free roof assessment himself. That's where he checks your shingles, granule loss, flexibility and flashing to see if treatment fits.
More questions
Can I walk on my roof the same day?
The data sheet says foot traffic is fine after about an hour at 70 to 80 degrees. If you can, give it the full 1 to 2 hours to cure. On a cooler or damper day, it can take longer.
Do I need to be home while you work?
Not always. We need access to the roof and the outside of the house, plus a heads-up about pets. Read do I need to be home during the treatment for the details.
Why is rejuvenation so much faster than replacement?
Nothing gets torn off. We handle the tune-up items, spray the treatment and let it soak in. A replacement means stripping every shingle, checking the deck and putting on a whole new roof.
