The drying clock
These times come from the SoyLei data sheet, measured at 70 to 80 degrees and 50% humidity.
- 01About 30 minutes
Tack free. The surface is no longer sticky to the touch.
- 02About 1 hour
Foot traffic. Someone can walk the roof without harming the treatment.
- 031 to 2 hours
Full cure. The treatment has soaked in and set.
Why cool or damp days slow it down
Those times are for a mild day. A cooler or more humid day can stretch them. The product also freezes at 32 degrees, so we save it for mild weather.
Things that can push a job to another day:
- Rain in the forecast for treatment day
- Heavy morning dew that hasn't dried off the shingles
- A cold snap moving in
Piedmont summers bring a lot of pop-up afternoon thunderstorms. A clear morning doesn't always mean a clear afternoon, so we look at the whole day. The full treatment day is laid out on how roof rejuvenation works.
What if a surprise shower hits?
Weather surprises everyone now and then.
Ask any company you're thinking of hiring what they do in this case, and get the answer before the job is booked. For Roof Armor's answer, ask us at your assessment. It's one of the questions to ask before you hire anyone.
Once the treatment has cured, rain won't wash it out. It has soaked into the shingle instead of sitting on top like paint. See is roof rejuvenation a coating for the difference.
More questions
What time of year do you treat roofs?
Any time of year we can get a mild, dry day. The product freezes at 32 degrees, so we skip cold snaps. We'll talk about timing when you book your free roof assessment.
Will you reschedule if the forecast changes?
Yes. If rain moves into the forecast for your day, we move the job. A short wait beats a treatment that never got its dry window.
Does humidity affect roof rejuvenation?
It can slow the drying. The data sheet times assume 50% humidity. On a muggy day the treatment can take longer to reach tack free and full cure, so we leave extra room in the schedule.
