What to look for in your warranty
Pull out the paperwork from when the roof went on. If you bought the house, check your closing folder or ask the seller. Then look for these:
- Any line about coatings, treatments or products added after install
- Whether coverage is prorated, and how much is left at your roof's age
- Whether the warranty transferred to you when you bought the house
- Any upkeep the warranty asks you to do
If the wording isn't clear, call the manufacturer and ask. Write down who you talked to and what they said. It can help to give them some background on the product. APEX-1132 is covered by an issued U.S. patent licensed to SoyLei, and SoyLei names PRI Asphalt Technologies as the independent asphalt lab that tested its technology. The details are on our lab results page.
Where most aging roofs stand
Many shingle warranties give full coverage for the first stretch of years, then shift to a prorated amount that shrinks over time. By the time a roof is old enough to need rejuvenation, its warranty may cover a lot less than people think.
That's no reason to ignore it. Know what you're protecting before you decide.
Our warranty is a separate thing
Each Roof Armor treatment comes with a 5-year transferable warranty, and we give you the written terms before work starts. It's separate from your shingle maker's warranty, and one doesn't replace the other. More on our warranty page.
Any rejuvenation company should be willing to talk this through with you. If one brushes it off, treat that as a red flag. See our questions to ask before you hire anyone.
More questions
Does rejuvenation affect my homeowners insurance?
Your insurance policy and your shingle warranty are two different things. Treatment is maintenance, and a documented tune-up and treatment can help an aging roof pass an inspection. Ask your agent how they see it. More on insurance and rejuvenated roofs.
What if my roof has no warranty left?
Then there's nothing to void, and the choice comes down to the roof's condition and your budget. A lot of roofs in that spot are right where rejuvenation fits, as long as the shingles are still sound.
